This week’s Mihaaru travelogue takes us backwards and forwards, looking at the history we have (and haven’t) seen, and hoping current trends towards heritage continue.
When we first looked around Thinadhoo, I wasn’t surprised to see plans for the island’s future all around. Chinese flats, reclaimed land, football pitches, a new mosque; but seeing plans for the area’s past was something new. Should current plans go ahead, Thinadhoo will soon have the Maldives’ first heritage park, and only the second museum in the country.
